Kit Green's Defense Intelligence Reference Document unveiled

Another Defense Intelligence Reference Document

A 53 page paper, dated 2009, authored by Dr. Christopher (Kit) Green, titled “Clinical Medical Acute & Subacute Field Effects On Human Dermal & Neurological Tissues” has just been revealed, in an article by researcher TimMcMillan.

It appears to be the document, which the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) listed as one of the 38 Defense Intelligence Reference Documents (DIRD), products of their 2008-2012 Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP.) It is not in the format of an AAWSAP DIA DIRD, several of which have been released previously.

However, the document appears to be the paper submitted by Green, which would later be issued as a DIA DIRD. Having said that, after acquiring a full copy of the Green DIRD, the purpose of this blog is to take a look at its contents and provide some commentary on what it contains. The quotes are from the paper, the notes are mine. 

The paper

Chapter one: “Definition of Topic and Domain of the study.”

“The objective of the overall program for which this paper has been prepared is to understand the physics and the engineering of advanced aerospace weapon system applications in the future, eg from now through to the year 2050. This study addresses the clinical medical signs and symptoms and biophysics of injury known and expected from near field (mostly ultra-high), NIEMR Microwave, Thermal, from unintentional exposure to anomalous systems.” (Page 6.)

Note 1: This clearly refers to the Defense Intelligence Agency’s AAWSAP put out for solicitation in August 2008.

Chapter two: “Background: What is thought to cause harm?”

“There is a relatively comprehensive literature on reported deleterious effects from exposure at close ranges to perceived anomalous aircraft of apparent advanced design.” (Page 9.)

Note 2: Here, Green refers to John Schuessler’s work; including the Cash-Landrum case; and his 1996 catalogue “UFO-Related HumanPhysiological Effects.” In addition, the work of Jim McCampbell, in this same area, is referenced.

“That is, it is of particular interest in a threat analysis program, regardless of whether anomalous-craft-induced physiological effects of humans are intended or not, to ascertain probable mechanisms…” (Page 10.)

Note 3: “A threat analysis program.” Nowhere in this paper, does Green refer to the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP.) References to the program are clearly to AAWSAP. 

Clear reference to AAWSAP

Another clear reference to AAWSAP appears on page 12:

"Yet, while directionally indicative of interest and intention to understand, the material does not rise to the quality of the initiative of this ADVANCED AEROSPACE WEAPON SYSTEM APPLICATIONS PROGRAM in which this paper serves as one of several dozen analytical examples."

Classified studies

Speaking of classified studies of the effects of RF radiation on humans, Green writes:

“Classified information exists that is highly pertinent to the study of this subject, and only a small part of the classified literature has been released.”

Green then goes on to review the large volume of existing open source literature about the effects of effects from exposure to certain known radiation sources. He concludes:

“In summary, the evidence is solid that the military and aerospace industries’ own classified, proprietary and unclassified literature, as well as the certain evidence of many aerospace RF-related microwave, antenna-related, High-Power (HP) microwave, infrasonic/sonic, and thermal (from any source) energy deposition accidents (vide infra) is congruent with the anomalous vehicle reports. This means that one cannot discount the claimed and often observed imagery of being real-world (although current and likely advanced beyond public information) technologies, and which are causes of these effects and injuries.” (Page 18.)

Note 4: In short, the effects from close range encounters with UAP match those effects from exposure to known radiation sources.

Chapter three: “How damage occurs.”

Here, Green examines how damage occurs from exposure to conventional source of RF energy. Examples of damage are heating, burning, headaches, dizziness, cardiac palpitations, severe anxiety, etc.

“There have been several studies (encompassing about 100 reported cases during acute accidental exposures in military aerospace and communications situations) that have collected data on human exposures to RF of fixed and broad bandwidths. Comparison of this medical literature presents striking overlaps to the claimed clinical injury patterns of several hundred near-field case of anomalous and hostile events being currently analysed for a companion study to this, as described in Appendices One, Two & Three.” (Page 23.)

Note 5: Appendix 1 is a short discussion of the Schuessler catalog of “UFO-Related Human Physiological Effects;" including the provision of a “Table of effects frequency.” In 1996, Schuessler produced a catalog of 365 selected cases from the time frame 1873-1994.

Appendix 2 is a partial listing of 96 cases from the UFO literature, prepared by “Green/Morris” with a time frame of 1952 - Sept 1971 of UAP cases which the authors have coded for ICD codes. [International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems.] This is almost certainly related to the database of such events which Green, in a 2018 interview with author Annie Jacobsen, stated that he had been compiling. There are three Australian events in this list (pages 49 and 50), namely:

1. 1952/07/22 Australia, NSW, Sydney.

93. 70/8 or 9 Australia, Sydney, New South Wales

95. 1971/08/01 Australia, Gladstone, Australia

Event 1 was a widely seen green ball of light in the sky. I tracked down a newspaper report in the “Daily Telegraph” Sydney newspaper, Tuesday 22 July 1952 page 3. There appears: “In Sydney, Albert Thomas, 33 of Regent Street, Redfern a night watchman at the NSW railway’s tarpaulin factory, Enfield, said he believed that the light was a flying saucer. “As soon as I stepped out of the door my arms started to tingle. Then an electric shock ran through the whole of my body.” However, from reading the rest of the article, it would seem to me that the green ball of light was a fireball, and thus would not meet Green’s near-field of 10’s of meters distance.

Event 93 was an apparent abduction investigated by this author. It involved a man who experienced an apparent loss of time after seeing a red-orange light at an ill-defined distance. There were no apparent medical injuries involved.

Event 95 was an apparent abduction with effects to a motor vehicle, and “time distortion” to the witnesses. I could find no details of physical injuries being reported by the witnesses.

None of the three Australian cases should really be in such a catalogue.

Appendix 3 provides comment about ICD codes followed by a description of the Vallee classification system for anomalous phenomena.

“What cannot be overly emphasized, is that when one looks at the literature of anomaly cases, including UFO claims from the most reliable sources, the extent and degree of acute high but not necessarily chronic low-level injuries are consistent across patients who are injured, compared to witnesses in the far-field, who are not.” (Page 27.)

Note 6: By near-field Green, defines this on page 28 as “within 10’s of meters.”

“There are no significant differences in either the reported acute effects (symptoms) or the physician observed (signs) between the case of the three antenna engineers or the Cash-Landrum cases.” (Page 27.)

Chapter four: “Applicable subacute injury effects.”

Here, Green examines the established literature, taking an in depth look at what is known.

Chapter five: “Cognitive and neural injury mechanisms and effects.”

Green looks at the literature on the possible mechanisms by which RF can alter neuro chemical processes.

In summary

In this paper, Green explores what is medically known about the exposure to various known radio frequency energy sources; and its effects on humans, animals and tissue samples. He then compares these effects with those reported by individuals who have a close encounter with UAP.

Preface to the paper

Note 8: In the “Preface” to the document, Green provides the following quote, citing a November 2007 “Proposal to Analyse Probable ET Generated Specific Near-Field Electromagnetic Emissions.” The proposal was “to Puthoff/Hathaway.” I have not come across this proposal before. An Internet search failed to locate such a paper. 

“As an example of the breadth of the study, certain characteristics of the fields associated with exotic propulsion can with near certainty be gleaned from archival records of their effects on human physiology. Therefore, under consideration is the outsourcing of a medical analysis of the archival data to ascertain probable mechanisms, field strengths etc., involved in the generation of he reported physiological effects.

The intention is to explicate the coupling mechanisms for communicating to human tissue possible in the context of traditional physics from exogenous sources, with as yet unknown signal generation and focusing. The pilot project proposed does not require that the coupled physics be explained only modeled.”

George D.Hathaway, is a Canadian engineer, who operates Hathaway Research International. Hathaway authored two of the 38 DIA DIRDs, namely, “Superconductivity in Gravity Research” and “Maverick vs Corporate Research Cultures.”

Overall comment

As this is a 2009 dated paper, it throws some additional light on the work which Green was engaged in between 2005 and 2009, specifically, examining the effects on humans due to close encounters with UAP.

It also demonstrates that the AAWSAP, did indeed concern the subject of UAP. Green, in his DIRD, uses seven different terms, namely:

* Anomalous aircraft
* Anomalous craft
* Anomalous vehicles
* UFO
* Aerospace objects
* Anomalous aerospace objects
* Anomalous aerospace vehicles.

An analysis of that list of AAWSAP/AATIP Defense Intelligence Reference Documents

Some context

As part of the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program, sub-contractors Dr Hal Puthoff, and Dr Eric W Davis asked a number of individuals to submit papers on projected emerging technologies. 38 such papers were commissioned. Full digital copies of three of these Defense Intelligence Reference Documents (DIRDs) have emerged on the Internet. Before reading further, readers may wish to refresh their memories of the story so far by reading my previous blog post about these DIRDs. 

Why bother with these DIRDs?

Why I am bothering with all this DIRD material, when the three which have emerged so far, don't even mention the term UFO or UAP? Well here is my reasoning. According to the former AATIP manager Luis Elizondo, the program came to some conclusions as to the mechanisms by which the phenomenon operates. The data that he and his team had to go on to arrive at these conclusions, were videos; visual observations; instrumented observations; and the opinions of the authors of the DIRDs. Therefore, I feel that by studying all this material, including the DIRDs, we may just get some hints as to what Elizondo can't directly tell us.

The list revealed

In a KLAS-TV news report on 25 July 2018, journalists George Knapp and Matt Adams published a copy of the list of the 38 DIRDs (37 actually, as one was redacted.) Their source of the list was not revealed. Former AATIP manager Luis Elizondo confirmed that the list was genuine.

Here is the contents of this list:

Open source publication

During a 28 July 2018, interview on the 'UFO Classified' radio show, hosted by Erica Lukes Dr Eric Davis, when talking about the DIRDs said that 'We allowed open domain publishing on the topics of these reports.'

It is already known that an open source publication of Dr Puthoff's 'Advanced Space Propulsion Based on Vacuum (Spacetime Metrics) Engineering' DIRD occurred in the  March 2010 issue of the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society.

Are there any other examples where DIRD authors published the contents of their DIRDs in open sources? So far, my research has located three such examples.

Example one.

DIRD. Advanced Nuclear Propulsion for Manned Deep Space Missions, Dr. F. Winterberg, Univ, of Nevada -Reno

Open source. 'Advanced Deuterium Fusion Propulsion for Manned Deep Space Missions,' Dr. F. Winterberg. Submitted 3 June 2009. Very interestingly, on page 43 of this 44 page PDF appear the words 'In writing this report I acknowledge the encouragement of the following individuals listed in alphabetical order: Robert Bigelow, Stephen Fuelling; Kelvin Long, Harold Puthoff and Harry Ruppe.'  Bigelow and Puthoff need no introduction. Kelvin Long is a physicist and aerospace engineer and is associated with studies of future interstellar flight. I understand Harry Ruppe was a German space travel expert. This all fits very well with this being an open source version of DIRD number 2 on the list. (Thank you to an anonymous comment on my blog which pointed me in this direction.)

Example two.

DIRD. 'Cockpits in the Era of Breakthrough Flight.' Dr. G. Millis, Tau Zero.

Open source. 'Cockpit considerations for Inertial-Affect and FTL Propulsion.' M G Millis. Published 2013, in the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society. The abstract for the paper reads:

'Breakthroughs in propulsion physics (control over gravitational or inertial forces, propellant-less space drives, and faster-than light travel) may not appear imminent, but enough progress has been made to allow thoughtful speculation about their nature and implications. The implications to cockpit design includes added degrees of motion, combination of operational regimes (near ground, orbit and beyond), greater span of speed (from zero-speed hover to beyond light speed), the need for new motion displays and navigational tracking methods, and the loss of familiar motion cues (pilot's inertia and visual clues) due to the separation of external and internal environments. The primary reference used to predict these possibilities is the 2009 book, Frontiers of Propulsion Science. These implications are detailed in terms of design requirements.'(Again, my thanks to an anonymous blog post comment which steered me to this paper.)

Example three.

DIRD. 'Gravity Wave Communication.'  Dr. Robert Baker, GravWave.

Open source. Communication between Dr Baker and myself, led to Dr Baker advising that he had published three papers in 2010 which referred to high frequency gravitational waves. He forwarded me links to all three papers. The one which most closely matches the DIRD was one titled 'Utilization of High-Frequency Gravitational Waves for Aerospace Systems and Technology.'The paper was presented at The Seventh Annual AIAA Southern California Aerospace Systems and Technology (ASAT) Conference on 1 May 2010.

The abstract reads:

'High-Frequency Gravitational Wave (HFGW) technology has been reported in well over one hundred peer-reviewed scientific journal article over the past five decades. For several years the Peoples Republic of China has funded HFGW research programs involving dozens of their scientists and well known Russian scientists have been involved with HFGW research for over four decades.  Theoretical aerospace, military and civilian applications are communications, surveillance, remote initiation of nuclear events and propulsion, including "moving" space objects and missiles in flight and frustrating anti-missile and anti-satellite systems. This paper presents the historical and theoretical background for the utilization of High-Frequency Gravitational Waves (HFGWs) as an enabling technology for aerospace systems and presents analytical techniques and theoretical quantitative results for the generation, detection and application of HFGWs.'

I am certain that a deeper study will reveal many more examples of open source publication of DIRDs and welcome information from anyone who conducts this additional research.

Additional comments

1. I found that the titles of a number of Dr Eric Davis' DIRDs as shown on the list were different from the titles that Davis himself provides on his EarthTech publications website.  For example:

DIRD 8 on the list, 'Wormholes in SpaceTime' becomes 'Traversable Wormholes, Stargate, and Negative Energy' on the EarthTech site. 2010. DIA document number DIA-08-1004-004.

DIRD 11 on the list. 'Antigravity Studies' becomes 'Antigravity for Aerospace Applications.' 2010. DIA document number DIA-08-1003-018.

DIRD14 on the list.'Vacuum Energy Applications' becomes 'Concepts for Extracting Energy from the Quantum Vaccuum.' 2010. DIA document number DIA-08-1004-007.

In addition, DIRD number 19 on the list is shown as W'arp Drives, Dark Energy, and Dimensions,' Dr. R. Obousy, Obousy Consultants, whereas the EarthTech website shows a publication 'Warp Drive, Dark Energy, and the Manipulation of Extra Dimensions' 2010, by Obousy, R K and Davis E W. DIA number DIA-08-1004-001.

These differences between list, and final publications, led me to wonder if the list wasn't a final version, but some sort of working draft along the way. It certainly isn't a list on DIA letterhead.

An additional clue comes from my communication with Dr Robert Baker who told me that the use of the term 'Gravity Wave Communication' is incorrect. Those working in this field, he told me, refer to 'Gravitiational waves,' which leads me to again think that whoever compiled this list didn't know the correct terminology to use at that time that the list was compiled.

Furthermore, communication with another of the DIRD authors, (DIRDs 6 & 17) Dr Bruce Towe, led him to advise that the citation as to where he works, which in the DIRDs is given as 'Univ of Arizona,' is incorrect as he works at Arizona State University (Phoenix.)

I would be interested to see if anyone can tell us where the 'leaked'copy of the DIRD list, actually came from?

2.We come now, to the subject of 'classified' DIRD titles. In his 28 January 2018 'Coast to Coast' interview with George Knapp, Dr Eric Davis first mentioned that two out of the 38 DIRD's were classified. This was repeated by Davis on the 28 July 2018, Erica Lukes radio show. On this latter show, he went on to say that he couldn't talk about the titles of the two classified DIRDs. Interestingly, he went on to note that on the released list of DIRDs, only one DIRD's details is redacted, whereas the other classified DIRD's details are not. 'That was a mistake,' he said.

I note that neither the titles, nor the names of the authors on the released DIRD list, appear to be in any particular order. They are neither listed alphabetically by title, nor alphabetically by author. Details of DIRD 38 are redacted. Presumably this means that DIRD 38 has either a classified title or is totally classified in respect of all its details.

Which of the remaining 37 DIRDs is also classified, cannot of course be known for certain. If there were only 38 in total and two were classified, then the details of one of the remaining 37 should also have been redacted, and they weren't.

Who redacted the details of DIRD 38 on the list? We do not know. Presumably it has to have been someone whom knew it was classified in the first place. In that case, why didn't that individual redact the details of the second classified DIRD? We are placed in the situation that we all now know the details of the second classified DIRD (well, not really, we can all see its details but we still don't know which number DIRD it is.)

3. I note that most of the DIRD authors reside in the USA, apart from Dr Ulf Leonhardt (Scotland); George Hathaway (Canada), and Claude Maconne (Italy.)

4. The 2008 AAWSAP solicitation document at attachment one listed ten areas of interest to the program:

1. Lift.
2. Propulsion.
3. Control.
4.Power generation.
5. Spatial/temporal translation.
6. Materials.
7. Configuration, structure.
8. Signature reduction.
9. Human interface.
10. Human effects.

Looking at the list of the 37 DIRDs, one can see that Drs Puthoff and Davis, in commissioning the DIRDs were covering all of the ten areas shown above.

I welcome feedback from blog readers on the above analysis. There are probably areas of interest that I have missed. I particularly welcome details of other open source versions of the DIRDs.

Luis Elizondo speaks out on SAPs; other possible "hidden" UAP programs and much more

Episode 54 of "That UFO Podcast" is part one of listener questions, put to Luis Elizondo by podcasters Andy McGrillen and Dan. The following blog post presents some summary notes and quotations I have prepared after listening to the podcast. It is by no means a comprehensive transcription of the entire program, simply parts of it which I found the most interesting to me.

Special Access Programs

Question: According to Ross Coulthart's book "In Plain Sight" you worked at DOD SAP Central office. What can you say about your time and responsibilities at SAPCO?

Answer: SAPCO is actually subordinate to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. I managed SAPs myself. 

"There were several meetings where I would go in with new information regarding AATIP and say, hey, does anyone know what's going on? And the response was no big goose egg, nothing. 

Furthermore, what I will share with you, that I haven't publicly, is that the former USDI, before he became the DNI, Director of National Intelligence, whose name is Jim Clapper, General Clapper, who was also the director of several organizations before. A very good man.

Politics aide. You know, I don't take sides politically. I don't care if you are liberal or conservative, or anything in between. The bottom line, he was a very, very good intelligence officer and a very good leader when he was in.

And what I will say is that he was, he was, without a whole lot of detail, he expressed to me,, and it's something if you ever get a chance to talk to him; in front of my wife, he said, look he said, I'm really glad you are doing this. I'm really glad we had a UFO program. It's something that we should have done.

So, regarding SAPs, yeh, I would not have, not necessarily been managing all these SAPs, yet, I would have access , because of my 'need to know.'"

SAPs are compartmented and sensitive. "There are master lists of all SAPs, that certain people have access to. There are also oversight committees. Chris Mellon was SAPCO -when he was Deputy Secretary of Defense.

"These UFO programs, if they existed, beside AATIP, were probably been run rogue. There was no oversight. They were being run in a way that was out of minds, out of sight. So to speak. And that's problematic because we are an organization that's built on rules and regulations, and doctrine, and we have oversight for a reason. And so when the people who are responsible for knowing that information, are deliberately kept out of the loop. And then that's a significant (-). A legal issue. People can go to jail for that. So, I don't know how to emphasis enough that, if someone was running a rogue operation, you know, its a big no no.

I mean, I had, at least I had people in the chain or command and, at the secretary of Defense level and his echelons below that. They knew what I was doing. And I had that blessing to continue doing it. It wasn't that Lue Elizondo was just running some rogue operation. Anytime I asked, and had the authority, hey, I need to know what you guys are working on. People were shrugging their shoulders. We have no idea what you are talking about. That's true, not just with Chris Mellon. He'd tell you the same thing. So will Jim Clapper, who was eventually the Director of National Intelligence."

Comments:

1. Clapper served as Director of National Intelligence between 9 August 2010 and 20 January 2017.  Prior to that he served for three years as the USDI.

2. Note the specific wording on the question of other than ATTIP UFO programs. Many UAP researchers seem to simply state that there were 4 other UAP programs, without citing any direct evidence. Here, Elizondo, qualifies his answer with "...if they existed..."

Are UAP a threat?

Question: You said on another podcast, that slide 9 could be related to Havana Syndrome. Wouldn't that mean that the phenomenon is an active threat? Secondly, are we in danger, as a species, from the phenomena?

Answer: A signature is a signature. Havana Syndrome is not my thing. "Myself and several colleagues perceive some interesting correlations there. I'm not prepared to elaborate right now. I simply cannot."

"Potential threat is not the same as hostile intent." We have an intelligence gap - meaning only that anything goes. We have seen some capabilities but we don't know the intent. 

"Biological effects are real. I'm not going to go into much detail in that. There's a reason why we has a DIRD by Dr. Kit Green - which by the way I highly respect - he's an incredible human being. There is a reason why we had a DIRD looking at biological effects. Right. You might think that it's all great and cumbyar, but then talk to someone who maybe had a little bit different experience and who is suffering from it."

Ways in which UAP have come to our notice

Question: Radar updates and nuclear assets have revealed UAP. What other things may have exposed the phenomena, to your knowledge?

Answer: "On another podcast I was asked where I would place sensors to detect UAP? "I said you only need one and I meant that. I'm not going to go into a whole lot of details right now. because we are in the process of looking at that as an option. There are some very intriguing signatures that if you knew what to look for, and how to look for them, you know, you should have a really, really, really good chance of being able to collect data. And the data in a way which gives a lot more fidelity than we are getting now. Possibly to be able to predict. So, that's what we are doing right now. It's a bit in its planning stages and nascence stage. So, I don't want to tip my hand too much...Obviously the big connection is the nuclear connection. That is concerning.

We are planning on executing this, in a phase one approach probably within the next six months...There's lots of things happening behind the scenes."

Shorter answers

Question: If you were the Galileo Project team, what sensors would be needed? Infrasound?

Answer: Infrasound is one certainly interesting potential. We use it for other things as well. There's another way, that is even simpler. In fact, its absolutely simple...we are developing some high performing teams, the academic side, the scientific side, the technological side, governmental side. Again, there is a lot of things happening behind the scenes. I think the public's going to be very surprised and probably pretty excited once some of this information starts getting into the public realm because it means real results...We are probably doing more now behind the scenes than we ever have before."

Question: Given the facts, what is the current leading hypothesis?

Answer: It isn't ours. It isn't foreign adversaries. "Option C right now. Meaning something or someone else other than us." Beyond that I don't know. Need more data. Don't have the final story yet.

Question: Lue said that the three videos released so far are the least impressive. What makes a video considered for release?

Answer: Fidelity. Proximity. Telemetry, which can get you capabilities. If these are different from yours or an adversaries then that's good.

"As far as the 23 minute video. I've said for the record before, that I cannot elaborate. But there are people in the Pentagon that are aware of that video. That have seen that video, because they have corresponded with me about that video, when I was with AATIP. So, it has not gone and been lost forever. It's absolutely there. And at some point, if people are asked to testify, you know, Congress. They are going to have to tell the truth, that they've seen it too. 23 minutes is an awful lot of time...it's a lot of time to collect data."

Question: On another podcast, purpose of different UAP, e.g. are Tic Tacs different to triangles?

Answer: "No, we think they're using the same technology....just used for different applications...There's going to be some information on that in the near term, some more data...It's an assumption based on observation..."

Question: Have your views about death changed since AATIP?

Answer: "...things that occurred under Bigelow's watch and the previous director that, frankly, cannot be explained under modern day science...my focus was more on the UAP piece, even though I was tangentially involved with the AASAP stuff. I'll let the AAWSAP people talk about that..."

Question: The sixth observable is known to be biological effects. Have you personally been impacted?

Answer: "Yes. Impacted by them, because of friends."

Question: Did AATIP have interactions with the Department of Energy?

Answer: Yes, tangentially. Relationship is much better now.

Question: Can you speak about the Vatican's involvement with UAP?

Answer: You'd need to ask the Vatican.

James Iandoli interviews Dr. Garry Nolan re analysis of UAP materials

On 7 February 2022, Dr. Garry Nolan appeared on the "Engaging the Phenomenon" Podcast. Subjects covered included anomalous cognition, UAP materials and experiencers. The following are my notes on the interview. They are not meant as a comprehensive transcript.

The notes

Garry Nolan (G): Science is not absolute. You should always be willing to be proven wrong at a later date. My methodology focus is on peer-review. Be careful about claiming you have a conclusion.

James Iandoli (J): You were visited by people from the CIA?

G: People from the government. Had a cohort of around 100 patients. Now, we understand that many of them had symptoms similar to Havana syndrome (1). 

J: Is Havana syndrome attributed to UAP?

G: No. 80-100 patients. No explanation as to how they had come to be hurt. Range of symptoms. This was around 2012/2013. (2). handed it over to Kit Green. In 2018/2019 cases of Havana syndrome peaked. Kit realized that our patients had symptoms similar to Havana syndrome. Took them out of our cohort. 

Co-incidently, findings re damage to brain. MRI of individuals made this clear it was in living tissue. Normal part of the brain. Hyperextended/over dense in some individuals. What's different about these people? (3).

High-functioning individuals-indicator of intellectual ability. I'm speculating it's to do with intuition? Lot of evidence that part of the brain is involved in intuition. 

Needed a new data set. Working with a lab at Harvard in this area of the brain. What does it do? AI program looks at MRIs. It has validated Kit's findings. (4). 

We have now submitted a paper to a Journal. There may be other areas of the brain which are also different in these individuals. Data set includes individuals on the autism spectrum and with schizophrenia. This is mainstream science and not related to UAP.

J: Contributed to, by Lue?

G: I met Lue about a month before the UAP videos were released. Got to know Lue and the whole crowd better.

Were Nimitz 2004 incident participants affected?

J: Were some people in the Nimitz incident affected?

G: There are good reasons why I shouldn't answer that.

J: Slide 9 - AATIP briefing slide has a line "cognitive human interface." Do you know what this refers to?

G: My understanding - these things can interact with us. No personal experience. Learnt that speculating is often taken by many people, as fact.

UAP related materials

J: Materials study from alleged UAP. Can you give us some background?

G: Mostly came from Jacques Vallee. Came with a story. Council Bluffs event. Good chain of custody. Primarily, is a non spectacular case. Point was to say this is how you do the research. Two years between paper's submission and publication. Time delay was due to me doing other work. There will be a number of other papers written up. Maybe someone will find something useful; there.

J: Any interesting material?

G: Ubatuba. (5). Anomalous magnesium. Two pieces came with separate chain of custody. To the eye, exactly the same. Took two samples from each piece. Analysis - two samples normal, and two samples odd. Could be 1) the result of a non-natural process or 2) downstream of an industrial proces which turned it into not normal.(6).

J: Better samples?

G: Someone in government has them but I will get hold of them. Don't know where they came from. Don't know why they are interesting. Developing a new instrument to analyse.

Biological affects

J: Biological effects. Kit Green's DIRD? (7).

G: Simple thing - don't get close to anything generating energy. Don't think there is anything magic in that advice. Cash-Landrum case. Travis Walton case. 

J: Do you have any data on those cases?

G: No.

J; Chris Bledsoe said he got close to a UAP and his health was affected.

G: Met John Burroughs with Colm. John Burroughs had a claim of health issues. Kit helped him to get the medical care he needed. (8).

J: Hitchhiker effect? (9). Is that a trackable thing?

G: It's trackable. It's an inflammatory event. I need acute case - few days after the event. Take blood then.

J: Hitchhiker, can you verify goes from person to person?

G: Evidence of inflammatory event. Know of one case where hitchhiker tracked through a family, but no blood was taken.

J: Negative and positive events?

G: I was invited several times to go to the ranch, I refused. Zero interest in making myself a target.

J: Thoughts on 'contact' on a larger scope - CE5?

G: Set up a video and a brainwave machine and monitor. Don't just go into the desert and tell me it happened. You could set up such a study.

What ever it is, it has been going on for thousands of years. The phenomenon is not going to behave to your expectations.

J: There is a level of interaction - from personal experience.

G: To prove it on a scientific sense - record it, validate it. Use EEG.

J: Would you run such a study?

G: Other people are better positioned to do that.

J: What do you think of Jacques Vallee's control idea?

G: It makes sense. Galileo Project has the ability to collectd data.

J; You just recently signed on to the Galileo Project. What do you hope comes out of it?

G: In the best possibe world - would be able to track something.

J: What about Congressional hearings?

G: Can only be a good thing. Evidence of people's interest - the New York Times UAP article had the highest number of readers of any NYT article. Scientists want evidence. Collect data to be peer reviewed. I'm not a "true believer." I'm looking for evidence. At the very least, its a puzzle. At one level, I dont think that we are going to solve it in my lifetime.

J: What do you think of the hypotheses that its classified human tech?

G: If it is, shame on the people behind it for not sharing it.

J: What are some of the implications of that tech?

G: What is the energy source? Somebody could mis-use it.

J: Some speculation - if we are dealing with a non-human intelligence, what could we do?

G: Figure out its intent. Try and communicate with it. Hopefully it would make us realise that we have more in common with each other than not.

J: Speculation - out of all the UAP hypotheses, which is the coolest?

G: The notion that there is a greater reality. Maybe energy can be organised into ways other than matter.

J: Is it possible that we will create better tech to interact with UAP?

G: I hope so.

J: Do you think progress is being made?

G: Absolutely.

J: What would your parting words be for sceptics?

G: Be patient. No ridiculous answers. Non sceptics should challenge sceptics. They have a part to play.

J: Academics?

G: Is there money available for research? Lobby to have funds set aside for this research. If no money available, just do preparatory work.

J: What about the general public?

G: Organise. Get involved.

J: What can be done?

G: Organise. Lobby elected officials.

J: Disclosure day?

G: Don't think so. It's a slow realisation.

J: What would be the greatest thing to come out of all of this?

G: New tech to help people. Something that results in people not fighting.

KLAS-TV report

In a KLAS-TV news report, on 25 July 2018, journalists George Knapp and Matt Adams published a list of the 38 DIRDs generated under a contract with the Defense Intelligence Agency, for the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP.) Although the source of the list was never revealed, former program manager, Luis Elizondo, confirmed that the list was genuine.

"Congressional Record"

Then, in a blog post dated 15 August 2018, it was noted that the "Congressional Record" dated 9 April 2018 contained the following note:

"4381. A letter from the Chief, Congressional Relations Division, Defense Intelligence Agency, Department of Defense, transmitting a list of all products produced under the Advanced Aerospace Threat and Identification program contract for the Defense Intelligence Agency to publish, to the Committee on Armed Services.

On 17 January 2019,  Nick Pope advised on Facebook that "the DIA Office of Corporate Communications released to me the letter DIA sent to Congressional Committees about AATIP." The letter was dated 9 January 2018; addressed to The Honourable John McCain, Senate Committee on Armed Services, and was signed by Christine Kapnisi, Chief DIA Congressional Relations Division.

Attached to the letter were three pages  listing the "38 reports associated with DIA's involvement in the program documented in the list."

The purpose of this blog post is to look at this January 2018 list and compare it to the list previously made available to us by Knapp/Adams. In summary

As will be seen from this comparison, the titles of many of the DIRDs as listed in the DIA letter are the same, or very close to those listed by Knapp/Adams. The matter of the 38th redacted DIRD is now resolved. There was both an unclassified, and a classified version of the paper  State of the Art and Evaluation of High Energy Laser Weapons, J Albertine, Directed Technologies. 

In addition, the question of what the "products" were, as referenced in the "Congressional Record" is now resolved. The "products" were the 38 DIRDs. This is disappointing as some researchers seem to have believed that the "products" would be all of the paperwork that AATIP generated over the years. Regretfully, this is not the case, and we still await the outcome of FOIA applications for the whole of the AATIP paperwork.

Researcher Roberto Labanti drew my attention to a blog post on the website of the Federation of American Scientists.  In a piece entitled "More Light on Black Program to Track UFOs" author Steven Aftergood, writes about the public release, to him, under the FOIA, of a copy of the Letter from the DIA to Congress.

Jack Brewer obtains further DIA documentation regarding BAASS' AAWSAP contract

For those of us who have been waiting patiently since 2018, for the U.S. Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) to process our FOIA requests regarding the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP) and Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS) documentation, there is now a glimmer of hope.

U.S. researcher Jack Brewer, has just advised of some documentation recently received from the DIA regarding the BAASS contract for AAWSAP. Please take a look at Jack's 21 March 2022 blog post for more details, and to download copies of the actual documents.

The documents

Below is my take on the released documents, with comments as appropriate.

1. File named Contract-FY10 7 pages

Contract No. HMM402-08-C-0072 shows that the successful bidder was indeed BAASS. 

Comment 1: 

As noted by Jack in his post, item 8 shows:

"Payment will be made by NSA Finance and Accounting Office, PO Box 1685 Attn: DF2111, Ft. George E. Meade, MD." 

Now, previous efforts, by myself and others, to locate who the actual AAWSAP contract was awarded to, by searching the "contract awarded to" for 2008, sections of various U.S. government websites, failed to locate any details of a contract awarded for AAWSAP. Here in this document, it is stated that the money will be paid to BAASS by NSA. Given the initials, and the address shown on the document, this is presumably the National Security Agency. There has always been speculation that the money for this program came from a "black budget" source. The document seems to confirm this, as the money did not simply come through the DIA.

Comment 2: 

Section 6 of the document "Solicitation issue date" shows a date of "Sep 01, 2008" and section 9 "Offer due date" has a date of "Sep 10, 2008." These dates are slightly diffferent from the ones shown on the original solicitation issued 18 September 2008; which are 18 Aug 2008 and 5 Sep 2008 respectively.

2. File named Contract status 24 Aug 2009 6 pages

"Aerospace Contract Status" reports that BAASS' performance "...has been excellent...Review of reports has been overwhelmingly positive...12 million for the continuation of this contract by DIA/DI has been submitted in the FY10 defense budget; funding likely to be approved."

Page 3 is titled "Technical Report Review Results" and lists 26 reports (which later became Defense Intelligence Reference Documents.) The "Review Organization" column, has labels "Exchange;" and "Sandia." Under the "Exchange" column, ten papers are rated as "positive." Under "Sandia", one paper is listed as "positive," one as "missing" and one as "Understanding." A fourth is redacted.

Comment 3:

So, some of the listed documents were peer reviewed. However, "Exchange" reviewed only 10 out of the 26; and only four were apparently reviewed by "Sandia."

Page 6 is titled "Program Management Issues" and in part, states "Program will most likely become SAP by June 2010." 

Comment 4:

As we know from other sources, the program never achieved a "Special Access Program" status despite the best efforts of former Senator Harry Reid.

3. File named Contract Status Briefing  8 pages

A briefing for someone, about the program.

Comment 5:

Page 5 is titled "Technical Reports Review Results." Of the 26 listed documents, no actual ratings of them are shown despite a note to the effect "Red -independent review. Green - Sandia National Laboratories."

Comment 6:

Page 7 is titled "Option Year 1 (FY10) deliverables." These deliverables include "`4-6 Classified Technical Reports." As has been subsequently revealed, only one of the total of 38 DIRDs was classified; and even then, an unclassified version was issued as a seperate DIRD.

Comment 7:

Page 8 is titled "Future Program Issues" and includes "If project continues past FY11 [redacted word] recommends that the contract be moved out of DIA."

Comment 8:

Which we now know, never happened. The program within the DIA was terminated, after two years. This was despite the efforts documented in the book "Skinwalkers at The Pentagon" to establish an AAWSAP-like program, within an alternative U.S. government agency.

4. File named SOW Aerospace 7 pages

Comment 9:

This document appears to be a draft of the contents of the AAWSAP solicitation, as it cites the Federal Business Opportunity website, where the solicitation was issued on 18 August 2008. It is noted that due to privacy reasons, the DIA AAWSAP Manager's name is redacted, although we know this to be James T. Lacatski.

6. File named U429.09 DWO IM

Comment 10:

Dated 30 October 2009, this internal DIA memo for [redacted] DIA from [redacted] DIA, has a subject of "Review of Advanced Aerospace Contract Deliverables." It states that [redacted] was asked to "...review the quality and value of the first-year techncial reports." The actual reports reviewed are redacted. All we know, is that "Eight reviews were performed by other authorities listed in the table; five were performed by outside reviewers; including three research staff at Sandia National Laboratories."

Comment 11:

Whowever redacted the names of the authors of the technical reports, missed redacting two of the names. However, via other DIA documents we have learned the names of all the authors of these technical reports.

Overall comment:

Jack Brewer is to be congratulated for his persistence in obtaining these documents which fill in yet another piece of the overall puzzle.

End note

Jack Brewer also submitted a request for one of the more than 100 reports BAASS submitted to the DIA. This one was titled "Utah Ranch Investigation: August 2009 - February 2010." It was listed in the rear of the "Skinwalkers at the Pentagon" book, by Lacatski et al, who should know what reports were sent to him at the DIA, where he worked. The DIA response to Jack's request was "...no responsive documents" were found. Which is a puzzle. No doubt we shall learn more as DIA continues to slowly process the rest of the 2018, and subsequent, FOIA requests relating to BAASS and AAWSAP.
