Project Newsprint - stage two commences

Hi all,

Project Newsprint is a year long project, designed to collect both past and current UFO sightings from rural and remote Australia, via local newspapers.

Stage one which took place between September and December 2015, focused on Western Australia, and was very successful. My report on stage one may be read here.

Stage two has now commenced, and will focus on the state of Victoria. I have dispatched over one hundred electronic "letters to the editor," and will shortly post on the Facebook pages of each of these Victorian newspapers.

It will be interesting to compare the Victorian and Western Australian responses.

  1. What to make of this. At 2.00am yesterday morning Fri Jan 8th, I saw what I assumed was a helicopter to the Northwest of this Western coast ( I live in the Ocean Reef area). It had rained brifly and I stepped out to look see if there are many clouds. I thought I was seeing a helicopter , judging by the hovering glow. It failed to move for about 3 minutes, but the began to move faster than anything I've ever seen. From my position in the yard it was coming toward our rear fence incredibly quickly and I saw something that was(to my eyes) approximately 2 metres diameter, brilliant glowing rose gold in colour, with sunray like spikes ssurrounding it. The cntre had visible space between the main object and these rays. The centre was a peculiar shape like a triangle with on side collapsed inward. I ran in and asked my eledest son to have a look. He came out a saw it, but now it seemed smaller and was going backwards very very quickly, so that within a minute it seemed to be a gold tennis ball behind a cloud. It stayed there for about 10 minutes then was gone. Neither of us have any idea what it was. We both heard an odd high pitched "harmonic" sound and felt an odd vibrating sensation in the air around us for about 15 mins.

So, what was it?? Any thoughts or explanations appreciated.

    1. Hi anonymous. Thank you for your detailed account of your observation. Fascinating. Before attempting any kind of analysis, i have some questions to ask. Perhaps these might best be asked and answered off blog. Would you care to send me an email to keithbasterfield@yahoo.com.au and I will send you my quest
